GMEB1 is an auxiliary factor in parvovirus replication known to inhibit apoptosis in neurons and previously associated with schizophrenia (Nakagawa et al. 2008; Singh et al. 2022), and YTHDF2 is a member of the m6A‐containing mRNA degradation complex known to be downregulated in neuronal fate determination (Sokpor et al. 2021), making both of these attractive potential ASD‐DM candidate genes. The gene discussed is GMEB1; the disease is schizophrenia.
