While the underlying pathways of C/EBPδ induction during G0 has not been uncovered yet, a putative mechanism of CDK inhibitor‐mediated C/EBPδ activation can be derived from work showing that transcription of CEBPD is continuously hampered by hypermethylation through the H3K27 methyltransferase Enhancer of Zeste Homologue 2 (EZH2) in cervical cancer and hepatocellular carcinoma [10].
