It is worth noting that the activation of bitter taste receptors in cancer cells is predominantly associated with anti-cancer effects, and decreased expression of some TAS2Rs, such as TAS2R4, 5, 9, 10 or 14, is associated with poor prognosis (Zehentner et al., 2021), while increased expression counteracts carcinogenesis (Seo et al., 2017).
