Indeed, in our IF stainings, both CD44 and CRYAB specifically stained GTCs in both GTC-high and GTC-low tumor samples and the number of CD44+ or CRYAB+ cells were significantly higher in GTC-high tumors (Wilcoxon rank sum test, two-sided; p = 0.00666, p = 0.00524, respectively; Fig. 5c–f).
