The disease is characterized by high autoantibody titres, with some of the most specific for SLE being anti-Smith (Sm; a component of the spliceosome), anti-Ro60 (RNA binding protein), anti-double-stranded DNA (dsDNA) antibodies [122,166], or anti-ribonucleoprotein (RNP; an RNA-protein complex involved in RNA metabolism) antibodies. Here, RO60 is linked to systemic lupus erythematosus.
