A recent publication from JAMA on the analysis of people who have been taking GLP-1 agonists from 2006 to 2020 shows that people who are taking GLP-1 agonists have a nine-fold higher risk of developing acute pancreatitis compared with the older drug for weight loss, bupropion, and four times more frequent intestinal obstruction and three times more frequent gastroparesis. The gene discussed is GCG; the disease is acute pancreatitis.
