By qRT-PCR and western blotting, we confirmed that mRNA and protein expression levels of ferroptosis-related genes and their proteins, including Hmox1, Slc7a11, Ptgs2, and Gpx4, remained unaltered or only slightly changed in the livers of NAFL mice, but were significantly up-regulated in NASH mice (Fig. 7a and b). The gene discussed is PTGS2; the disease is metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis.
