Gastrointestinal cancers, including duodenal cancer as in our patient, are particularly associated with increased thrombotic risk due to their high tissue factor expression (expressed on tumor cells, tumor-associated macrophages, and released via TF-positive microparticles) and mucin production. Mucins can interact with selectins and trigger microthrombi formation, activating platelets and promoting their aggregation [6]. This evidence concerns the gene TF and duodenum cancer.
