ACE and acute kidney injury: Medications with nephrotoxic potential, collectively known as SADMANS (sulfonylureas, angiotensin‐converting enzyme inhibitors, diuretics, metformin [5], angiotensin‐2 receptor antagonists, non‐steroidal anti‐inflammatories and sodium‐glucose co‐transporter‐2 (SGLT2) inhibitors) [11], are commonly prescribed for CKD in the Cape [11, 12], presenting a risk of acute kidney injury (AKI) if taken while dehydrated.
