Although treatment with the lower dose axitinib resulted in decreased gene expression of only VEGF-R1 and –R2, the observed effect of dose I on the expression of CD31, the lower MVD compared to dose II in the myometrium, and the significant effect on the mean grade and severity index of adenomyosis, confirm our hypothesis that a lower dose of angiogenesis inhibitor could be effective to treat a benign condition such as adenomyosis. This evidence concerns the gene PECAM1 and adenomyosis.
