Even though no significant differences in naïve B and T cells were actually observed between controls and COVID-19 patients in the study by Shuwa et al., these authors also described a progressive and decreasing trend of naïve CD8+ T cells from controls to severe COVID-19 cases, passing through mild and moderate forms; in this regard, it is interesting to notice that such a decrease in naïve CD8+ T cells was also present in convalescent patients [33].
