Regarding cell viability and anti-proliferative activity, it has been reported that methanolic extract leaves induced apoptosis in Ehrlich’s ascites carcinoma cells through the p53/BAX/Bcl2 signaling pathway, thus reducing cell viability, and that roots of hydroalcoholic extract can arrest cell cycle in the G1 phase in human breast carcinoma cell lines MCF-7, BT-20, and MDA-MB-231, and not in normal cells such as the lines HMEC, MCF-10A, HPL1A, and HUVEC [30,79]. The gene discussed is TP53; the disease is breast carcinoma.
