At the median, the T2D group was 17 years older, consumed less overall energy, and had a poorer body composition, higher serum triglycerides, lower HDL-C, lower fiber intake, higher intake of plant protein, lower intake of plant fats, higher intake of ASF fats, lower intake of ASF protein, higher glycohemoglobin, higher hS-CRP, higher insulin levels, higher fasting glucose, lower intake of cholesterol, lower intake of PUFAs and MUFAs, and higher sedentary time. This evidence concerns the gene INS and type 2 diabetes mellitus.
