Genetic polymorphisms, such as those in the genes patatin like phospholipase domain containing 3 (PNPLA3), transmembrane 6 superfamily member 2 (TM6SF2) and membrane-bound O-acyltransferase 7 (MBOAT7), have been linked to increased susceptibility to MASLD and/or advanced disease [12,17]. This evidence concerns the gene TM6SF2 and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
