As an illustration, an aberrant relative abundance of alternatively spliced RNA isoforms of the SNCA, SRRM2, DAO, SHANK3, CACNA1C, and TSC2 genes has been observed in the brains of patients suffering from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, autism spectrum disorder, and Parkinson’s disease [27,30,31]. This evidence concerns the gene CACNA1C and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
