The results of a meta-analysis from 2013 by Dowlatshahi et al. [36] comparing serum inflammatory markers such as IL-1b, IL-6, IL-10, CRP, ICAM-1, E-selectin and TNF-α, in patients with psoriasis and healthy control groups, indicated modest but significantly elevated levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines in the serum of patients with moderately severe psoriasis. The gene discussed is TNF; the disease is psoriasis.
