The cross-talk between the gastric cancer cells and adipocytes results in the dedifferentiation of adipocytes, characterized by a reduced number and size of lipid droplets and diminished expression of adipocyte markers, alongside increased gene expression levels of fibroblast-specific protein 1 and various inflammatory cytokines, including interleukin-6 (IL-6) [11,22]. This evidence concerns the gene S100A4 and gastric cancer.
