An in vitro study demonstrated that fractional extract from okra fruit, especially F1 and F2, could improve diabetic nephropathy through inhibition of diabetic renal epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT), and the regulation of DPP-4 and GLP-1R, as well as reducing oxidative stress and renal fibrosis in the HK-2 cell line [90]. Here, GLP1R is linked to renal fibrosis.
