LTF and infection: Although in obstetric studies, maternal obesity has been shown to be related to impaired functions of specific and non-specific immune cells in newborns44–46 as well as to an increased risk of infections in both neonatal period47,48 and adult life49,50, that has been also supported by the results from animal research51,52, to the best of our knowledge, there are no studies on the relationship of maternal body weight-related parameters with the placental transport rate of IgG antibodies and Lf-ANCA auto-antibodies and their concentration in cord blood.
