Possible other confounding risk factors for postoperative AKI, such us perioperative amount of blood and other products transfusion, time from diagnosis to treatment (operation), possible peripheral arteriopathy, perioperative medication (nephrotoxic drugs, diuretics, vasoconstrictive, and inotropic support), preoperative left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF; data available in 87 (39%) of patients), and type of diabetes mellitus (insulin or non-insulin dependent diabetes mellitus; data available in 22 (9.8%) patients), were not included in this study due to missing data. This evidence concerns the gene INS and type 1 diabetes mellitus.
