PLA2G7 and dementia: Additionally, mechanistic studies indicated that Lp-PLA2 inhibitors can alleviate damage to the blood–brain barrier and reduce the aggregation of Aβ1-42 in the brain, suggesting that the protective effect of Lp-PLA2 inhibitors in dementia may be related to the clearance of brain β-amyloid proteins associated with the blood–brain barrier (4).
