The International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer, the College of American Pathologists, and the Association of Molecular Pathology released molecular testing guidelines in 2013 that limited testing to polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR; also known as ERBB1) mutations and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) for anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) fusions [5].
