SF3B1 and neoplasm: Splicing can be employed as a cancer treatment approach in various forms: using single-stranded oligonucleotides to change the splicing of specific genes and switch between oncogenic and tumor-suppressing forms, as has been demonstrated for the BCL gene (67); regulating specific splicing factors through drugs that directly impact them, such as blocking SF3B1 (68); or by attacking the pathway which the mutant splicing factor exploits.
