Although non-classic monocytes (CD16+, i.e., FCGR3A+) have been shown to be associated with inflammation in SLE (67), classical monocytes, which are major producers of TNF-α and IL-1 in response to LPS, still play a significant role in inflammatory effects, especially under harmful stimuli (68). The gene discussed is FCGR3A; the disease is systemic lupus erythematosus.
