On the other hand, the generation of these cells may be considered as an undesired side effect, at least in oncologic patients, as both Foxp3+CD25+CD4+ (30) and Foxp3+CD25+CD8+ T cells (31, 32) inhibit the anti-cancer immunity, i.e. they contribute to immune response evasion against cancer and consequently progression of the disease. The gene discussed is CD4; the disease is cancer.
