The latest research has discovered that the thymic tissue of thymoma-associated MG (TAMG) patients contains a unique subset of medullary thymic epithelial cells that ectopically express neuromuscular junction molecules such as agrin and Lrp4, which may be involved in the development of MG by activating autoreactive T and B cells (28). The gene discussed is LRP4; the disease is myasthenia gravis.
