Having demonstrated that LPS-induced ALI in vivo and cellular injury in vitro could activate the intracytoplasmic DNA receptors cGAS and ZBP1, triggering a series of responses to lung inflammation that further enhanced the assembly of the lung PANoptosome, it became evident that inhibition of cytoplasmic DNA production suppresses the activation of cGAS-STING and PANoptosis. This evidence concerns the gene CGAS and acute respiratory distress syndrome.
