Similarly to TFF3, CEACAM5 is overexpressed in later-stage disease as in the earlier stages CEACAM5 levels are too similar to those in healthy tissue (97) CEACAM5 has also been suggested to be more useful for detecting liver metastasis in CRC, suggesting it would be better at detecting cancers in more advanced TNM stages (98). This evidence concerns the gene CEACAM5 and colorectal carcinoma.
