PD-L1 inhibition itself was not accompanied by cardiotoxic effects in terms of cardiac function and tissue morphology, confirming the observations of the above-mentioned studies, which have shown that blockade of the PD-1/PD-L1 axis itself is not sufficient to induce distinct myocarditis (Keir et al., 2006; Tarrio et al., 2012).
