Gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST), commonly occurring in the gastrointestinal tract, is a mesenchymal cell tumor usually driven by activating mutations in the receptor tyrosine kinase proto-oncogene, KIT, or the platelet-derived growth factor receptor α (PDGFRα) (Mehren and Joensuu, 2018; Di Vito et al., 2023; Zalcberg, 2021). The gene discussed is PDGFRA; the disease is gastrointestinal stromal tumor.
