Death‐associated protein kinase 1 (DAPK1) is a serine/threonine protein kinase regulated by calmodulin that is associated with apoptosis, autophagy, tumour growth and metastasis [14]; it is involved in regulating neuronal cell death in the nervous system [15] and is associated with various neurological diseases, such as cerebral ischaemia [16], stroke [17] and Alzheimer's disease [18]. This evidence concerns the gene DAPK1 and stroke disorder.
