In a study on C57BL/6 mice with induced diabetic cardiomyopathy, luteolin minimized the production of ROS, enhanced the Nrf2 and heme oxygenase‐1 (HO‐1) levels; reduced the oxidative damages and inflammation which is crucial to maintain heart functioning under these conditions (Li et al. 2019). This evidence concerns the gene HMOX1 and diabetic cardiomyopathy.
