Altered endocannabinoid metabolism, such as reduced plasma levels of 2‐AG and AEA, accompanied with higher expression of their respective metabolizing enzymes, monoacylglycerol lipase (MAGL) and fatty acid amide hydrolase (FAAH), has been found in a rodent models of traumatic brain injury that are known to have compromised BBB integrity (Ahluwalia et al., 2023). The gene discussed is FAAH; the disease is brain injury.
