Neurofilament light chain (NfL) and glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) are detected in blood samples from a variety of neurodegenerative conditions including late-onset Alzheimer’s disease, Lewy body disease and frontotemporal dementia (Bacioglu et al., 2016; Eratne et al., 2024a; Hansson et al., 2023) .
