Clinical trials are now actively investigating the efficacy of B cell targeting CD19 and B cell maturation antigen (BCMA) CAR T cells across a spectrum of autoimmune diseases, including systemic lupus erythematosus, myositis, pemphigus, multiple sclerosis, myasthenia gravis, and systemic sclerosis, with preliminary results indicating significant therapeutic gains (Table 1). This evidence concerns the gene CD19 and systemic lupus erythematosus.
