Zamanian et al. (2024) emphasised that curcumin (one of the natural active ingredients) shows its protective effects against diabetic cardiomyopathy, lung damage and diabetic gastroparesis by inhibiting the increase in pro-inflammatory cytokine levels such as tumour necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β) and interleukin-6 (IL-6) by regulating the NFκB signalling pathway and that regulatory effects on the NFκB pathway may be a therapeutic target in alleviating diabetic complications. The gene discussed is NFKB1; the disease is diabetic cardiomyopathy.
