SPARC and viral infectious disease: During our mass spectrometry analysis of nuclei isolated from uninfected and HSV-1-infected iPSC-derived monolayer neuronal cultures, we unexpectedly observed a significant increase in the abundance of Brain-specific kinases 1 (BRSK1; p = 0.0025) and 2 (BRSK2; p = 0.0057), as well as thousand-and-one amino acid kinases TAOK1 (p = 0.0023) and TAOK2 (p = 0.0064) following viral infection (Fig. 9A).
