When GCA patients without stroke were compared with those who had the illness, the latter group had a lower prevalence of anemia (59% vs. 79%, p = 0.03) and a lower count of biological inflammatory markers, such as CRP (61 mg/L, interquartile range 28–185, vs. 99 mg/L, interquartile range 6–400, p = 0.04). This evidence concerns the gene CRP and temporal arteritis.
