However, it is interesting to note that at 3 days post-ischemia, corresponding to the acute phase of stroke, the damaged area (GFAP-negative) was 2 and 6 mm2 in db/+ and db/db mice, respectively (Clain et al., 2024), and decreased to about 0.5 and 3 mm2 in db/+ and db/db, respectively, in the early subacute phase of stroke (7 days post-ischemia, this study).
