In subgroup analyses, the risk of incidence of MetS with ALT and AST levels respectively increased 75% and 114% in women (HRs: 1.75 (1.07-2.87) and 2.14 (1.35-3.41), respectively), and 7% and 14% in those free of central obesity (HRs: 1.07 (1.02-1.11) and 1.14 (1.06-1.23), respectively) which were higher than their counterparts (p-values for interaction by sex: 0.06 and 0.001, respectively; and by central obesity: 0.04 and 0.07, respectively).
