GPT and metabolic syndrome: The risk of incident MetS with ALT and AST levels (each 10 U/L higher) was significantly greater in women (HRs: 1.75 (1.07-2.87) and 2.14 (1.35-3.41), respectively), and in those without central obesity (HRs: 1.07 (1.02-1.11) and 1.14 (1.06-1.23), respectively), and in those without hypertriglyceridemia (HRs: 1.06 (1.02-1.11) and 1.17 (1.08-1.27), respectively) than their counterparts (p-values for interaction based on sex: 0.06 and 0.001, respectively; and based on the WC: 0.04 and 0.07, respectively; and based on the plasma triglycerides levels: 0.07 and 0.07, respectively).
