Given the significant role that NF-kβ signaling activation plays in neurodegeneration, an additional correlation between Alzheimer's disease (AD) and the neuroprotective properties of resveratrol is its capacity to downregulate the expression of NF-kβ-modulated genes, including cathepsin, NO, prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), and iNOS. Here, NFKB1 is linked to early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
