Based on this argument, Niu et al. [29] analyzed the data from some published studies and showed that over-expression of immunohistochemical markers such as Ki67, VEGF, MMP-2, MMP-9, CD44s, CD44v6, OPN, HMGB1, CD133, EpCAM, CK19, GPC3, CD105, and those associated with the mTOR pathway are independent prognostic factors for survival in patients with HCC. This evidence concerns the gene MKI67 and hepatocellular carcinoma.
