In multivariate analysis, all these factors, except older age, were independent survival predictors for patients with HCC: HBV infection (aHR: 0.674, 95% CI: 0.571–0.795, p < 0.001), HCV infection (aHR: 0.809, 95% CI: 0.676–0.970, p = 0.022), liver cirrhosis (aHR: 1.543, 95% CI: 1.303–1.877, p < 0.001), larger tumor size > 5 cm (aHR: 1.533, 95% CI: 1.288–1.225, p < 0.001), higher AFP level (aHR: 1.704, 95% CI: 1.465–1.982, p < 0.001), and muscle depletion (aHR: 1.566, 95% CI: 1.351–1.814, p < 0.001). This evidence concerns the gene AFP and cirrhosis of liver.
