The expression of antisense noncoding RNA in the INK4 locus (ANRIL) is associated with atherosclerosis, and the interaction of ANRIL with proteins of the PRC1 and PRC2 families leads to repressive H3K27me3 deposition on the target genes CDKN2A and CDKN2B, involving histone modification and chromatin remodeling [102]. This evidence concerns the gene CDKN2A and atherosclerosis.
