While working on a β-lactoglobulin-induced milk allergic mouse model, Liu et al. recently demonstrated that supplementation with 2′-FL for four weeks decreased the levels of IgE and β-lactoglobulin-specific IgE in the serum and increased the levels of the anti-inflammatory cytokines IL-10, TGF-b, and IFNg in comparison to allergic mice that were not treated with 2′-FL, thereby preventing the development of allergy [231]. The gene discussed is IGHE; the disease is allergic disease.
