We examined the biological effects of EGFL8 knockdown in these cells, and the results indicated that EGFL8 knockdown significantly enhanced malignant characteristics, including increased cell proliferation, spheroidogenesis, migration, invasion, colony formation, and chemoresistance; the increased expression of genes related to multidrug resistance, EMT, and cancer stemness; and elevated levels of molecules associated with tumor progression compared to the scrambled control group. This evidence concerns the gene EGFL8 and neoplasm.
