On the other hand, analysis of the 1250 genes downregulated by CSTA yielded clusters of terms (Table S3) associated with the following: “Regulation of transcription”; “Interleukin 8”, which is associated with immune suppression, cancer plasticity, and angiogenesis [36]; “Epidermal growth factor (EGF)” and “Growth factors” terms, whose related genes would slow proliferation when downregulated [37]; and, finally, dysregulation in “Extracellular matrix (ECM) organization”, which is possibly involved in cell growth and apoptosis [38]. The gene discussed is CSTA; the disease is cancer.
