IMPA1 and malaria: Various inhibitors of IMPα such as the macrocyclic lactone ivermectin [10] have been a focus of interest as antiviral agents [1,4,9,11,12,13,14,15,16], and more recently as agents to combat the apicomplexan Plasmodium species and Toxoplasma gondii [17,18], the causative agents of malaria and toxoplasmosis, respectively [19,20,21,22,23,24].
