REN and diabetes mellitus: The multiple linear regression analysis revealed that increased maximum lifetime BMI was significantly associated with the percentage of crossing capillaries, after adjusting for age, sex, regular exercise, duration of diabetes, HbA1c level, DBP, renin-angiotensin system inhibitor use, lipid-modifying medication use, and BMI or WC at the time of the survey (unstandardized regression coefficients: 0.47, P = 0.026; 0.37, P = 0.045; respectively) (Tables 2-3).
