Recent findings concerning the intersection of energy metabolism with innate immunity to viral infections like the interaction of STING (stimulator of interferon genes) with FADS2 (fatty acid synthase 2) [40] and the role of lactate in regulation of MAVS (mitochondrial antiviral signaling protein) [41] suggest that dietary lipids play a role in innate immunity. Here, STING1 is linked to viral infectious disease.
